There have been times in my life when I felt overwhelmed, lost, and deeply sad, especially during my teenage years. These experiences have profoundly shaped my understanding of mental health and ignited my passion to become a counsellor, empowering others to find a way through difficult times.
Managing intense emotions on your own can be extremely difficult. It's completely normal to feel burdened by memories or current obstacles. Having someone to listen and support you provides valuable validation and promotes healing. This is why counselling is so important. It creates a safe and supportive environment where you can openly share your experiences and explore your feelings, leading to improved mental health and personal growth.
I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Given the right therapeutic conditions, I believe everyone can reach their full potential and discover their true selves. Whatever you bring to the sessions, I promise to approach it with an open mind and without judgment. This collaborative approach fosters a trusting relationship, allowing you to feel safe and supported on your counselling journey.
“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”
— Carl Rogers
As a person-centred counsellor, my primary focus is creating a safe and confidential environment where you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings.
I believe you are the expert of your own experience, and my role is to accompany and facilitate your self-discovery and personal growth and to help you foster a deeper understanding of yourself.
My experience involves providing compassionate support to individuals dealing with a wide range of issues, such as chronic illness, general anxiety disorder, social anxiety, relationship difficulties, feelings of isolation and loneliness, low self-esteem, and depression.
I can provide both short-term and long-term counselling to adults, tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.
Clients seek my assistance with a variety of issues. Here are some common challenges that can be supported through counselling:
Finding the right words to express our emotions can often be daunting. That's why, in addition to traditional counselling methods, I offer a unique blend of creative techniques, including using mediums such as paint, clay, sand, and therapeutic cards.
These engaging tools are designed to help you explore and articulate your emotions in innovative ways. This approach is especially beneficial for those who thrive in creative environments or feel restricted by conventional talking therapies.
Creative healing encourages mindfulness and provides a fantastic outlet for stress relief and self-discovery. By tapping into your creativity, you can unlock new perspectives on your feelings and experiences.
My standard rate for face-to-face or online sessions is £50 for a 50-minute appointment. I welcome clients to Kingswood Practice, a cosy and inviting space in central Horsham, where we can engage in meaningful face-to-face counselling and therapy sessions.
I believe that the relationship between the counsellor and the client is a really important element in the healing process. Therefore, it's so important for you to choose someone you feel comfortable with. If you're curious about exploring how we can work together, I invite you to a complimentary 20-minute introduction call. This can take place online via Teams or over the phone at a time that suits you. There is no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel right for you.
For clients who prefer virtual connections, I offer flexible online sessions that you can attend from the comfort of your own home. Additionally, if you're looking for something different, I also provide walk-and-talk sessions in the beautiful countryside. These outdoor sessions allow us to engage in conversation while surrounded by nature.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or if you would like to arrange a complimentary introductory call. This offers a chance to talk through the reasons you're considering counselling, whether it may be helpful for you, and whether I’m the right therapist to support you.
If you’d prefer to speak to me directly or leave a message, you can call me on 07389156080. I’m happy to talk through any questions or concerns you may have.
All enquiries are usually responded to within 24 hours. Please be assured that all contact is strictly confidential and handled using secure phone and email services.
